“Lunilou” launched by “Izabel Kovacic” that is a social entrepreneur based brand in Zagreb, Croatia. Izabel kovacic is the founder and CEO of Lunilou, a company specialized in sustainable living, with headquarters in Zagreb and offices in Miami, Paris and New York. She is also the author of the book “Sustainable Living for Dummies”, and a regular speaker at different events, including World sustainability summits, conferences and workshops.
We first heard about Lunilou from the media and then decided to reach out to get to know her better. Here’s what we found out.
How did Lunilou start?
Lunilou was conceived in 2011, a few months after the beginning of the economic crisis. Since then she has been working very hard in order to make this vision a reality.
In order to launch a successful sustainable living company, Lunilou needed a business model. From the start, she was focused on sustainable consumption and production. Therefore, she created the “Sustainable Living for Dummies” book and started a website to sell her products.
After a while, other social enterprises and sustainable companies approached her about joint ventures and she started working with them.
Today, Lunilou is a European brand with offices in six countries and a representative network in twenty seven more.
Why did Izabel Kovacic launch Lunilou?
The idea for Lunilou was born from the need to meet the growing demand for sustainable living products and services. The market for sustainable living products and services is very broad, but they all have one thing in common – they are expensive.
This is why Lunilou was conceived: to create a simple and affordable lifestyle solution. To be honest, the idea was actually a bit scary. When you want to start a business, the first thing you worry about is whether or not it’s “worth it”. In my case, the answer is yes, of course it’s worth it!
At the same time, this was not easy. In the beginning, it was very challenging. But I’ve always believed that if you’re willing to fight for something, you’re more likely to succeed.
How has Lunilou grown?
Since its foundation in 2011, Lunilou has grown to be a leading global player in the field of sustainable living. The main growth strategy has been focusing on expanding the brand’s reach and footprint. This was achieved by investing in high-quality content and in social media optimization.
Today, Lunilou has over 1000 employees and is present in six countries. The company’s revenue reached EUR 4.1 million in 2017, up from EUR 2.2 million in 2016.
What’s next for Lunilou?
The Lunilou company is really profitable and is expecting more growth in the coming years. As a profitable company, it’s possible to think about new opportunities and invest more in the future.
