One of the best ways to break out of a rut, is to learn new skills. Here are a few things you might want to try:

brush up on your French

read a book on philosophy

take a dance class

learn a new skill

Let Go of the Plate

One of the hardest things to do, is to let go of the plate that is constantly being fed to you. It’s like you have a toddler in your stomach, and you have to let it go. If you’re not ready to, you don’t have to keep stuffing their faces with food.

When you’re ready, you’ll know.

Eat in Small, frequent meals

When you’re feeling unhappy and unmotivated, you’re probably driving yourself crazy trying to eat everything in sight. This is not a good look. If you’re having a party, and everyone is bringing food, you’re probably going to be hungry again 15-30 minutes later. You’re better off keeping yourself busy, and eating when you’re hungry.

Go for the 5-Minute fix

If you’re feeling like you’re going through withdrawal, try this:

  • Take a 5-minute break
  • Take a 5-minute walk
  • Drink a glass of water
  • Call it a day

Turn off the T.V.

Even though you might have the remote in your hand, you’re not really paying attention to what’s going on. You’re probably worried about what is on television, and what you need to do next. You’re probably stressed out, and you don’t Even know it.

Stop snacking and eat a small meal

You’ve been snacking, and you’ve been skipping meals. You don’t want to do this, but you’re probably going to feel better if you stop. A small snack can be a mid-meal refueling break, or a mid-day snack.

You don’t have to eat everything in sight, but you don’t have to miss meals either.

Aim for healthy fats and lean protein

If you’ve been eating too many calories, your body is going to start to look for fat stores. You might have heard that you should eat eggs every day, but you don’t have to eat them every 5 minutes.

Instead, aim for healthy fats like avocado, and lean protein like fish, and non-greasy vegetables.

If you’re feeling like you’re going through withdrawal, try one or more of these tips, and you’ll feel better soon.
