Gum bleaching has been a big dental trend in the past few years, but like most dental trends, it’s not without its own downsides. Here’s what you need to know about gum bleaching and how it could be affecting your oral health…

How Does Gum Bleaching Work?

The process of gum bleaching will typically involve the dentist cleaning the area, applying a numbing agent to the gums, and then using a laser to destroy melanocytes in the tissue. These lasers are capable of burning away an entire layer of gum tissue so it’s important that you’re aware of this when considering a procedure.

The Benefits (Three Sentences):

There are some benefits to having your teeth whitened through gum bleaching, namely that it doesn’t require any anesthesia or surgery. The downside is that there is no guarantee as to how successful it will be for each person.

What Can/Should You Expect After A Session?

The first thing you should expect after a session is that your gums will be sore for the next few days. It’s like when you have a new filling done, but worse. Your mouth may also feel dryer than usual because of the treatment, so it’s best to stick to water-based drinks. After a few days, your gums should start to feel better, but they’ll still be sensitive for another week or so.

How Much Is It?

So, how much does it cost? Unfortunately, there’s no real way to know for sure, because the price range is so big. We found a few different dentists in different areas of the U.S., and they were quoted anywhere from $300 to $3,500 per session. A couple of them said that the number would depend on how many treatments you need – two or three would be cheaper than seven or more. It also depends on whether you want to do a full gum lift (i.e., surgically remove all of your gum tissue) or just lighten up what’s already there (i.e., laser treatment).

Is There A Downside?

There are definitely pros to gum bleaching. For one, it can be a great temporary fix for those who want whiter teeth or have sensitive gums. It’s also a popular treatment among actors and actresses who need to maintain their pearly whites on the red carpet or in front of the camera. And while it may seem like there are only benefits to this procedure, there is always a downside.

Who Should Get It Done?

There are many ways to maintain a healthy, beautiful smile. A few easy steps to follow include brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing at least once a day, avoiding sugary drinks and snacks after eating, and visiting your dentist for regular checkups. If you’re looking for even more tricks, or want help getting started on the right path, here are some options that may be right for you:  -Whitening strips: These strips are coated with peroxide gel that breaks down stains on your teeth. Simply apply the strip to clean dry teeth, insert it into your mouth against the gumline until it becomes clear again (about 30 minutes), and rinse off the strip with water or mouthwash. Where Can I Get It Done?

Most people will tell you that the best way to get your gums whitened is to make an appointment with a dentist, but is it really? Sure, there are some professionals who might charge more for their services, but don’t assume that they’re always better. For example, some dentists may use laser treatments or other methods to brighten your gums. In any case, if you want the best treatment available for your teeth and gums, consult with a professional before you make any decisions about where to get the procedure done.
